About

Brwgly is a set of practical, fact-checked how-to guides for foreigners living in or visiting Korea โ€” the everyday logistics that no orientation session, embassy pamphlet, or Instagram reel actually covers in enough detail: getting a SIM card, opening a bank account, enrolling in health insurance, finding a part-time job, choosing a transit card, and even sorting your trash correctly.

Why this site exists

Most “life in Korea” content online falls into two camps: outdated forum threads from years ago, or generic listicles that repeat the same three tips everyone already knows. The rules that actually govern daily life here โ€” visa-linked work permits, SIM real-name verification, bank account transfer limits, National Health Insurance enrollment โ€” change often enough that year-old advice can be flat wrong. Every guide on this site is written from current, verified sources, and updated when the rules change.

What we cover

  • Getting connected: SIM cards, eSIMs, and Korea’s 2026 identity-verification rules
  • Money and banking: opening an account as a foreigner, transfer limits, and moving money internationally
  • Health insurance: NHIS enrollment rules, cost, and what happens if you don’t pay
  • Work: which visas allow part-time work, permit requirements, and where jobs are actually posted
  • Getting around: transit cards, and the daily-life rules nobody explains at the airport, like trash sorting

How we write

Every fact, fine amount, and percentage on this site is checked against current official sources before publishing โ€” we don’t guess at numbers or recycle outdated figures from other blogs. Where a rule is genuinely ambiguous or recently changed, we say so rather than making something up. If you spot something that’s gone out of date, tell us โ€” see the contact page.

Thanks for reading. We’re building this out guide by guide โ€” see the full Korea Guide collection here.
